If you are thinking you want to build off-the-grid but are overwhelmed or don't know where to start, this is the perfect course for you!
This course provides a comprehensive overview of how off-grid systems relate to and work with each other to provide you with more than just a home, but a complete system for living!
Course instructors, Kirsten and Ashton, have lived and built off-grid homes for many years, and they'll share stories and anecdotes of what off-grid living is really like. You'll hear of the joys and the deep satisfaction of living with nature rather than against her, along with the annoyances and challenges of living an alternative lifestyle in a world built to maintain the status quo.
This course is designed to be engaging, interactive, and fun! You'll get to watch entertaining podcast-style videos, read informative PDFs, and complete an interactive journaling workbook that will help you reflect on your own values, priorities, and goals.
Join Off-Grid Jumpstart today and start living sustainably and comfortably, on your own terms.
Tired of living in an unhealthy, uninspiring, wasteful BOX?
Become empowered to build outside the box and change the way you live, think, and impact the world around you.
Classes are taught by 12 Masterminds, builders, designers, scientists and teachers each who each cover one type of building system. The course comprises 10 classes on individual wall systems from cob to rammed earth to strawbale and hempcrete. A bonus class on nature-based solutions serves as an introduction to the systems that make these types of structures come alive and nurture their residents.
Classes by renowned natural builder and designer, Sigi Koko, cover the big picture including climate, building envelope, thermal mass vs. insulation and passive solar design.

Starting with an Adobe workshop right here, in beautiful Taos, New Mexico on October 6 - 8th, 2023. Under the guidance of the gifted natural builder and plasterer, Alice Ko, this transformative workshop will unveil:
Spinning off the success we experienced with our local radio show, Sustain-a-babble, which aired on KNCE in Taos, NM, we will be launching our new Podcast, Eco Build Lab Podcast this year. This Podcast will narrow our focus from general sustainability to the built environment and its impacts. We will be interviewing builders, homeowners, architects, innovators, and designers for an in-depth look at how we can improve the earth by improving the way we live on it.
We are almost finished with our first ebook:

We have BIG plans! In addition to offering in-person workshops and building classes as soon as it is safe to do so, we plan on holding Learning Summits for green builders, inventors, and thought-leaders to come together and learn from each other. We plan on creating a sustainability database as a resource library that will be accessible to everyone. In the coming years, we want to create a sustainable testing site somewhere in New Mexico to test our building innovations. We also hope to one day be able to work with grant writers and create a non-profit to provide learning and building opportunities for people all over the world.
This site is critical in determining the best building type for the harsh New Mexico climate. We plan on partnering with Green Builders who would like to submit designs.
The purpose of the sustainability database is to become the go-to site for people wanting to learn more about sustainability. The site will be edited by contributors from across the globe. These editors have either built sustainable homes for themselves or others or are involved in innovative green technologies.
We hope to one day provide grants to builders, thinkers, and innovators from different sustainability initiatives to test their theories and improve systems and techniques.
We are excited about holding Conferences and Talks when safe to do so again. We are looking forward to bringing the best and the brightest in green building and systems technologies together to achieve greater understanding and promote collaboration between disciplines.
WE ARE CURRENTLY OFFERING ONLINE CLASSES, and are looking forward to providing a wide variety of free and low-cost classes and information for those wanting to dive deeper into off-grid-living.
When things become safe, we would like to offer practical, hands-on training for those who would like to learn how to build eco-friendly homes and off-the-grid systems.
